WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Concord University softball team fell in a doubleheader to 20
th-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato Thursday afternoon at The Spring Games as the Mavericks 5-1 and 9-1.
Game 1: Minnesota State 5 – Concord 1
MSU (14-4) was able to hold Concord (4-12) off the scoreboard until the seventh inning as the Mountain Lions dropped game one.
The Mavericks scored a pair of runs in the first inning as freshman pitcher/first baseman
Caitlyn Bauer settled in and only allowed two base runners from the second until a leadoff walk in the bottom of the sixth. Bauer retired 11 of 13 batters over that stretch.
Minnesota State struck for three runs in the sixth after the walk.
CU put together a seventh inning rally as senior pitcher/outfielder
Laura Thompson singled to start the frame and senior third baseman/outfielder
Sarah Thompson drew a base on balls. With two outs in the frame, junior catcher/outfielder
Jolie Privett doubled in L. Thompson, but the side was retired on the next at-bat.
Bauer (2-6) tossed six innings as she registered a pair of strikeouts while giving up three earned runs.
Game 2: Minnesota State 9 – Concord 1
Concord held the Mavericks to six hits in the night cap as MSU manufactured offense against the Mountain Lions.
CU got a run in the second inning as freshman third baseman
Kylee Stacy got her second hit in as many innings driving in sophomore outfielder
Imani Campbell. Concord trailed 6-1.
Minnesota State scored a pair of run in the top of the fourth and added another tally in the fifth as the game was over after five innings.

Rachael Koller (2-5) was the pitcher of record for Concord as she tossed 1.1 innings.
The Mountain Lions face Clarion and American International at 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Friday to close The Spring Games.
