CLARION, Pa. – The Concord University men's basketball team led wire-to-wire in an 80-60 win over Clarion Sunday afternoon inside Tippin Gymnasium.
With Clarion (0-2) only down four against CU (1-1), 20-16, the Mountain Lions went on a 14-3 run over an eight-minute stretch to open up a 34-19 lead on Clarion with 1:40 left in the first half. Fifth-year senior forward

Defensively, Concord held the Golden Eagles to 1-for-11 from the floor from the 9:28 mark of the first half to 1:40 left in the opening 20 minutes.
Concord hung onto a double-digit lead at halftime as it still led by 15, 38-23, at the intermission.
The surge continued into the second half for the Mountain Lions as it took a game-high 26-point lead, 56-30, at the 13:24 mark after a jumper from senior guard
Ethan Heller.
Clarion slowly chipped away and got within 60-47 of Concord with 9:20 remaining in the contest. However, CU slowed the Golden Eagles on the offensive end and regained a 17-point lead, 68-51, after another Heller field goal.
The Mountain Lions shot an efficient 58.2 percent (32-of-55) from the field as it assisted on 17 of 32 shots.
Graduate guard
Lual Daniel Rahama just missed a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Heller netted 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting. Senior forward
Jevon Laidler scored 12 of his 14 points after halftime. Paced by a 6-for-8 showing from the field, Moore added 12 points.
Ten different players scored for Concord.
The Mountain Lions held Clarion to 38.1 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from three-point range.
CU travels to Bluefield State 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a showdown in a Mercer County rivalry.
