FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team lost 66-55 against Winston-Salem State Saturday afternoon in the Atlantic Regional Crossover at Joe Retton Arena.
Despite trailing for much of the first half, Concord (1-1) put together a third-quarter rally to take a lead.
Down 40-33 early in the third quarter, the Mountain Lions went on an 11-2 run to take a 44-42 edge at the 4:26 mark. Graduate guard

Maddie Ratcliff combined for all 11 points as Guynn sank two three-pointers.
Winston-Salem State (1-1) regained a 48-44 lead, but CU stayed within reach as it trailed 50-47 after 30 minutes.
After a field goal from graduate forward
Alexis Phillips trimmed the deficit back to three points, 52-49, with 9:08 remaining, WSSU went on an 8-0 run to open up a 60-49 margin at the 4:45 mark.
CU held the Rams to five points in the first 6:30 of the game as it led 6-5 early on. However, Winston-Salem State finished the quarter on a 15-7 run. The lead grew to 11 points, 27-16, but Concord had a second-quarter answer as it got within 36-33 before WSSU beat the halftime buzzer for a 38-33 halftime edge.
All 12 of Guynn's points came on three-pointers as she shot 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Ratcliff had 11 points. Phillips just missed a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds. Senior guard

The Mountain Lions travel to Bluefield, West Virginia 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to take on Mercer County rival Bluefield State.
