CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team ended the regular season with a 5-0 loss against nationally-ranked No. 8 Charleston Saturday night in a Mountain East Conference game at the Welch Athletic Complex.
UC (16-1, 15-1 MEC) scored twice in the first 30 minutes, and added a goal in the final minute of the opening half. The Golden Eagles went on to score twice in the second half.
Concord (4-12-2, 3-12-1 MEC) tallied the first shot of the game as freshman midfielder Jack Hughes sent a shot high in the eighth minute.
Freshman goalkeepers Tommy Smith (three saves) and Jason Lavacca (two) combined for five saves.
Saturday night was the final collegiate game for forward Tyler Bubb, forward Daniel Culverwell, midfielder Michael Shelor and midfielder Robbie Stiles.
