Concord Falls in Conference Title Game

BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team lost in the Mountain East Conference Championship Game to Notre Dame, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at the YMCA Paul Cline Complex.

The Falcons (6-2-3) scored in the 36th minute as Kazarie Kephart received a pass from Ellie Gess who slotted a goal in the bottom right of the net.

Besides the NDC goal, the first half was a feeling out process for both teams with only five combined shots in the first 45 minutes.

Senior midfielder Yasmin Mosby fired two shots on target in the first seven minutes of the second half, and had two more attempts in the 54th and 55th minute—one each by sophomore forward Rachel Bell and senior defender Alyssa Mahar.

Mosby tried another shot from distance in the 75th minute that just went over the crossbar.

The Mountain Lions (8-2) tallied nine corner kicks on the afternoon, and outshot Notre Dame, 11-8, in the contest. Both teams had four shots on target.

Junior goalkeeper Leah Marsh made three saves in the contest.

Mosby had five shots, and was responsible for three of the four CU shots on target. Bell add three shots in the contest.
