FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team lost 90-68 to Fairmont State Monday night in a Mountain East Conference game at Joe Retton Arena.

The game was tied five times early on, 2-2, 4-4, 6-6, 8-8 and 10-10, but Fairmont State (6-2), nationally-ranked 21st in Division II went on a 16-3 run to separate itself from CU (4-5).

The Mountain Lions were able to get the deficit back to 10 points, 32-22, with 2:25 remaining in the first half after senior guard/forward Malik Johnson hit one of his two three-pointers on the night.

FSU was able to elevate its lead to 41-28 at halftime.

With the Fighting Falcons threatening to stretch its lead out early in the second half, sophomore guard Ethan Heller canned a three-pointer to get CU within 45-33 at the 17:38 mark. The short 5-0 run was answered by Fairmont State's 9-2 run as it led 54-35.
