ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team takes to the road for the first time in the spring 2021 season as it visits West Virginia Wesleyan 2:00 p.m. Sunday in a Mountain East Conference matchup.

Concord lost a double overtime contest, 1-0, to start the season against Davis & Elkins.
Wesleyan clipped Wheeling by a goal, 2-1, to open the spring campaign.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Senior goalkeeper
Kyle Brown stopped seven of the eight shots that came his way last Sunday against Davis & Elkins to give him 226 career saves. Brown's save total is second among active players in Division II, trailing only Anderson's Gal Elyashiv who has 252 career saves. Going back to October 30, 2019, Brown has made at least five saves in four of his last five contests. The Warren, Ohio native is chasing Mitchell Thompson (2012-2015) for the program record in saves at 282.
CLOSE CALLS
Outside of a multiple-goal loss to eventual 2019 Division II National Champion, Charleston, Concord has played in on-goal games in six of its last seven games, including a 2-1 defeat on October 20, 2019 against West Virginia Wesleyan in Beckley, West Virginia. Junior forward

SEEING ORANGE
Five of the last six games between Concord and West Virginia Wesleyan have been decided by one goal, going back to a 3-2 loss to the nationally-ranked Bobcats September 20, 2017. In last season's 2-1 defeat, Brown made two saves in the contest.
VETERAN LEADERSHIP
Concord head coach
Steve Barrett and West Virginia Wesleyan head coach Gavin Donaldson have combined to be head coaches at their respective schools for 53 years with Barrett spending the last 23 seasons on the CU sideline—between the men's and women's soccer program—while Donaldson is in his 30
th year at WVWC. The only coach in the MEC with more experience at one school is Wheeling's Jim Regan who is in his 36
th year. Donaldson has led Wesleyan to five NCAA Tournament berths in his 30 years.

Charlie Naylor had the game-winning goal for West Virginia Wesleyan in the 88
th minute to help edge Wheeling. Andrew Polychroniadis scored WVWC's other goal in the game. Ryan Havrilla made three saves in the contest. The Bobcat managed 11 shots in their first game with four on goal.
