ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team opens up the 2021 spring season 3:00 p.m. Sunday when it hosts Davis & Elkins at the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia.

Concord was 3-12-2 during the 2019 season.
Davis & Elkins was 7-8-2 as it just missed the MEC Tournament.
2019 MEETINGS
CU got off to a 2-0-1 start in 2019 before the Senators handed the Mountain Lions their first defeat of the season with a 2-0 victory at Anderson Field. One of the two goals for Davis & Elkins was an own goal. The contest at Davis & Elkins was a smaller margin as the Senators scored in the 79
th minute to edge CU, 2-1. Junior midfielder
Diego Marti Perez assisted on Concord's goal. In the home game, senior goalkeeper
Kyle Brown made six saves.
RECORD BOOK WATCH
Brown starts the eight-game 2021 season with 219 saves which is second all-time in program history. Mitchell Thompson (2012-15) has the record with 282 saves. In the last two full seasons, the Warren, Ohio native has scooped up 167 of his 219 career saves. Brown finished last season by tallying a single-game career high 13 saves against nationally-ranked Charleston. Overall, Brown started the 2019 campaign by recording 326 scoreless minutes.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Four of the final five home games of the 2019 season for CU was played in Beckley, West Virginia where all four home games will be played for Concord in the spring of 2021—at the YMCA Cline Complex. The Mountain Lions were 1-2-1 in Beckley last season with three of the four being decided by a goal or a tie. Concord downed Wheeling 2-1 in late October 2019 on a game-winning goal by senior midfielder
Samuel Appiah in the 62
nd minute. CU also tied Urbana, 3-3, at the beginning of October as junior forward
Daniel Culverwell accounted for one of the three goals.
DAVIS & ELKINS AT A GLANCE
Dean Johnson is in his first season as the head coach of the Senators. James Gill and Daniel Cerezo are the top two returning scorers for Davis & Elkins. Each tallied three goals and an assist in 2019. D&E had seven different players scored at least two goals last season. Richard Glemawu saw action in three games in goal as he made nine saves, but allowed eight goals. The Senators lead the all-time series with Concord 6-2-1.
