PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team lost 5-1 to Alderson-Broaddus Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium.
A-B (3-6, 2-5 MEC) got out to a 1-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game, and were held down by Concord (0-8, 0-6 MEC) for the much of the first half until the Battlers got two goals in the 43
rd and 45
th minutes to go up 3-0.
Two more goals in the first five minutes of the second half stretched the lead out to 5-0.
Sophomore forward
Robbie Stiles tallied his first career goal with a score in the 87
th minute as senior midfielder
Tomas Fanello delivered his first assist of the season on the Stiles' score.
Senior goalkeeper
Kyle Brown made 11 saves in the game as he inched closer to the all-time saves record at Concord. The Warren, Ohio native now has 277 with Mitchell Thompson owning the record at 282.
Freshman midfielder
Alex Horstmann recorded three of CU's seven shots.
The Mountain Lions take on nationally-ranked Charleston 7:00 p.m. Wednesday on the road.
