Concord Slips By Davis & Elkins for 69-66 Win

ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team scored the final six points of the game as it clipped Davis & Elkins, 69-66, Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference action at the McDonnell Center.

With the game tied at 63-63 with 1:41 left in the game, the Senators (7-18, 6-13 MEC) banked in a three-pointer out a timeout to take a three-point advantage.

Still down by three with 49 seconds remaining, junior forward Riley Fitzwater blocked away a Davis & Elkins shot attempt, and then ran the floor where sophomore guard Gracie Robinson found here for a transition layup to get CU (17-8, 13-6 MEC) within a point.

After another defensive stop, senior forward Madison May was fouled on a drive with seven seconds left and calmly hit both free throws. On the ensuing Davis & Elkins possession, it was unable to get the ball in bounds, and sophomore guard Maggie Guynn sealed the win for Concord with two more foul shots.

Neither team led by more than three points for the duration of the second half after D&E had a 34-33 lead at halftime.
