WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team was unable to overcome a 25-0 run by Charleston as it lost 68-59 in the Mountain East Conference Semifinals at WesBanco Arena.
CU (23-7) went up 9-0 at the 7:06 mark of the first quarter after senior guard
Andreanna Pool buried a three-pointer. But, the Mountain Lions did not score for the next 9:24 of the first half as Charleston (25-5) opened up a 25-9 lead.

Keely Lundy was able to knock in a three-pointer with 7:42 remaining in the first half to stop the drought. It would be the start of a 17-8 run as the Mountain Lions closed to within 33-26 of the Golden Eagles at halftime.
In the third quarter, UC worked its lead up 19 points, 54-35 as Charleston scored a layup with under a minute left in the period. But Concord wasn't done at a comeback attempt.
Still down 15 with 2:10 left in the game, the Mountain Lions scored the next eight points to make it a 64-57 contest with 52 seconds left. Included in the mini run was three-pointers each by senior guard
Emily Boothe and junior forward
Madison May.
However, the seven-point margin was as close as Concord would get as Charleston opened back up a 10-point lead before winning by nine.
Pool led CU in scoring 19 points. Sophomore forward
Riley Fitzwater notched a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds while tying the MEC Tournament record with eight blocks. May netted 12 points in the defeat.
On Saturday, Boothe became the all-time leader in games played at Concord with her 116 consecutive appearances in the Maroon and Gray.
On the NCAA Tournament bubble, the Mountain Lions will find out if they made the field of 64 in Division II 10:00 p.m. Sunday.
