WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team rolled to its sixth straight win with a 90-51 win over Wheeling Jesuit Thursday night in a Mountain East Conference game inside the McDonough Center.

The Mountain Lions (11-3, 7-2 MEC) jumped out to a 25-8 lead after the first quarter and led 48-16 at halftime as CU shot a blistering 63.3 percent (19-for-30) from the field in the first 20 minutes while holding Wheeling Jesuit (3-12, 1-8 MEC) to 20 percent (7-for-35).

Concord built its lead up to as much as 37 points in the third quarter after freshman guard Gracie Robinson hit a three-pointer at the 4:11 mark to give CU a 60-23 advantage. After the Cardinals worked the deficit under 30 points to start the fourth quarter, the Mountain Lions quickly got its lead up over 30 for the final 5:39 of the game as a free throw by sophomore guard Abigail Gwinn with 39 seconds left gave Concord its largest lead of the game and final margin of victory, 39 points.

Sophomore forward Riley Fitzwater and senior guard Andreanna Pool led four players in double figures as each scored 21 points. Fitzwater went 8-for-10 from the field, a perfect 5-for-5 at the foul line and added eight rebounds and five blocks. Meanwhile, Pool finished 8-for-11 shooting while knocking in 5-of-6 three-pointers. Pool also handed six assists.

Freshman forward Maggie Guynn and junior forward Madison May each went for 12 points in the contest.

For the game, the Mountain Lions shot 58.6 percent (34-for-58)—a season best shooting the ball. It also marked the fourth straight game in which Concord has shot better than 50 percent from the field.

On the defensive end, CU limited the Cardinals to 26 percent shooting (20-for-77) and 10.7 percent (3-for-28) from three-point range.

Thursday's win was the largest margin of victory for Concord since a 48-point win over Salem during the 2008-09 season.

The Mountain Lions look to push their win streak to seven games when they visit West Liberty 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
