MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord picked up its second conference win on Sunday over Glenville State at Morris Stadium in a MEC contest after the Mountain Lions won 12-0 on the road.
The Mountain Lions had four different players score two goals each on Sunday.
Senior midfielder
Delaney Crumblish had her second multi-goal game of the season with two goals in the second half. Previoulsy, Crumblish scored two goals in the second half of CU's 4-0 win over Felician September 2.
Sophomore midfielder
Sarah Hill also notched her second career two-goal game with a goal in each half Sunday. Hill accomplished the feat for the first time in a 6-0 road win over Urbana last season for the Maroon and Gray.
Additionally, sophomore midfielders
Mira Kontio and
Courtney Wallace matched Crumblish and Hill's efforts for a two-goal game. Kontio and Wallace recorded their first two-goal game for their careers on Sunday. Both goals from Kontio were scored in the first six minutes of the contest.
Freshman forward
Leah Foster scored her fifth goal of the season. Foster is the only player in the MEC with five goals this season.
Senior
Pilar Elias had both a goal and an assist in the contest on Sunday. For Elias, her score versus Glenville State on Sunday was the 19th goal of her career, tying for seventh on the all-time scoring list at CU with former standout and Concord assistant coach Katie Cuviello.
Freshman forward
Kaitlyn Kerrigan found the net in the second half of the contest for her second goal in as many games while
Olivia Medieros found the net for the first time in her collegiate career.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Maher and freshman goalkeeper
Leah Marsh worked together for the shutout as they made two saves combined. In her career, Maher has been apart of 10 shutouts--whether solo or combined. Sunday was the fourth shutout of the season for Concord.
The 12 goals for CU matched the highest total in any Division II game this season, and it was the most goals scored by the Mountain Lions since they posted 14 against Salem during the 2009 season.
Last season, Concord and Charleston split its meeting with each team winning at home.
A total of two goals were scored between the squads as UC scored a first-half penalty kick to win at Charleston, 1-0, September 8, 2017. CU took the second meeting on a double-overtime goal from Elias as Wallace assisted on the score.
Last season was the first win for the Mountain Lions over Charleston since the 2011, and CU had just two previous ties with the Golden Eagles over that span.
CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
Two of the three wins for Charleston this year have come at home with a 5-0 defeat over Glenville State and a 1-0 victory against Shepherd.
Half of UC's eight games have been decided by a goal.
