ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team steps out of Mountain East Conference play this weekend when it takes on Salem 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Beckley, West Virginia at the Cline Memorial Complex.

CU is 1-2-1 on the season and is 1-1 against non-conference foes.

Salem sports a mark of 2-4, but has won two of its last three contests.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Even though Concord lost to Notre Dame on Wednesday, sophomore goalkeeper
Kyle Brown made six sprawling saves and has 15 saves in two games this season including a career-best nine versus Urbana in a 1-1 tie.

Against NDC, the Mountain Lions received four shots on goal from sophomore midfielder
Maxime Ramioulle. This season, Ramioulle has 12 total shots with seven being on target, a percentage of 58.3.

Of the 10 points CU has recorded as a team this season, four points have come from defenders.

Josh Sheffield tallied his first career goal in a 2-1 over Shepherd on Sunday. Freshman defenders
Bruno Baptista and
Adrian Cabello each have an assist on the year.

Saturday will be the seventh all-time meeting between Concord and Salem with the Mountain Lions holding a 4-2 edge. But, last year picked up a 3-2 home win over CU.

Sophomore midfielder
Moulay Hassani scored Concord's second goal of the game in the 18
th minute as both Mountain Lion scores came within five minutes of each other.

The goal by Hassani gave the Maroon and Gray a 2-1 edge at the time against the Tigers.

Four of the five goals scored between CU and Salem came in the first half in 2017.

CU registered seven shots on goal against the Salem defense which was a season-high five games into the season. No Concord player had more than one shot on target with senior defender
Xander Bailey, Hassani and senior midfielder
Matt Henderson each having one.

Salem's Federico Toschi scored two goals versus Concord last season, and has accounted for four of the Tigers' seven goals this season.
