ETTRICK, Va. – The Concord University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the VSU Invite as it fell to King in three sets and host Virginia State in five games.
Match 1: King 3 – Concord 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-22)
After dropping the first two sets to King, the Mountain Lions rallied to nearly force an additional set, but were swept.

Camryn Huber each had a kill in the run. After KU scored to make it 23-21, senior middle hitter
Brooke Heck came up with a kill to get the Mountain Lions within 23-22. However, King scored the final two points of the match.
Huber had a team-high six kills while senior outside hitter
Ellie Lawrence and Pranckus each tallied five kills.

Erin Shannon tied for the game high in digs with 16 while junior setter
Jenna Mounts had 10 assists to pace CU.
Match 2: Virginia State 3 – Concord 2 (25-20, 25-17, 16-25, 17-25, 15-11)
The Mountain Lions erased a 2-0 deficit to force a decisive fifth set, but the Trojans took the final set.
Down two sets to the host, Concord steadily pulled away from Virginia State in the third set. CU opened up a 15-10 advantage after a VSU error, and never saw its lead in the game get below five going on to win by nine points.
In the fourth set, the Mountain Lions raced out to a 7-1 lead before VSU came back to get within 9-7, but the next four points belonged to Concord including a kill from Heck. Once again, CU never saw its lead dwindle below five in the fourth game, leading by as much as 10 points, 21-11.
Concord continued its momentum early in the fifth set as it opened up an 8-5 lead, however, the next seven points were scored by Virginia State as it went on to win by four points.
Heck had eight kills to lead CU while Huber recorded another six kills. Shannon had 16 digs while freshman setter
Imani Rodgers fell a dig shy of a double-double with 11 assists and nine digs.
CU is back in action at the VSU Invite with matches against North Greenville and Elizabeth City State.\
