CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team concluded its season with a three-set loss at Charleston Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game at the Wehrle Center.
The Golden Eagles (16-16, 11-5 MEC) took the match 25-16, 25-20 and 25-23 over CU (7-25, 3-13 MEC).
Charleston steadily pulled away from the Mountain Lions in the first set. Holding onto a minor 10-7 edge, UC scored three straight points to build its lead up to six, 13-7, before leading by eight just a few points later, 16-8, on its way to a nine-point set win.

Alexi Pranckus each had a kill to pace the early Concord attack. However, Charleston scored four straight points to take an 8-5 lead—an advantage it would not relinquish to CU. A kill from Huber and service ace by Pranckus got Concord to within 15-14, but it was never able to tie or take the lead.
The Mountain Lions made a late run in the third game, but came up short in their quest to force a fourth game. Down 23-19, Concord rattled off four straight points to tie the third set. Pranckus had two kills while junior libero
Erin Shannon tallied two service aces. But, Charleston halted the CU rally with the final two points of the match to win 25-23.
At the beginning of the third set, Pranckus recorded her 1,000
th career kill. The Tinley Park, Illinois native becomes the sixth player in program history notch 1,000 kills and the second player this season, joining senior middle hitter
Brooke Heck.
Pranckus finishes her career with 1,003 kills while Heck ends her career with 1,125 kills.
Additionally, Heck and Pranckus along with Lawrence finish with their names in the Concord record book in kills, hitting percentage, digs and blocks.
Saturday was the final collegiate match for the trio.
Heck tallied a team-best 12 kills versus Charleston. Shannon had 17 digs.
