Meanwhile, WVSU is 2-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE
After sweeping Notre Dame and Urbana to start conference play November 17 and 19, Concord is off to its best start in a season since it opened the 2011-12 season by going 9-1. Along the way, CU picked up its first ever program win over Notre Dame as it downed the Falcons 88-81 before fending off Urbana 96-87 in overtime. Junior forward Madison May led the Mountain Lions in both games as she scored 27 points in each contest. The Athens, West Virginia native also averaged seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in the two games. Heading into play this week, May is third in the MEC in scoring per game at 22.0 while ranking sixth in assists at 4.0 per game. Senior guard Andreanna Pool also averaged 19.5 points per game in the two wins for the Mountain Lions. Even though Pool shot just 35.1 percent from the floor over the two games, the Durham, North Carolina native was a 54.5 percent shooter (6-for-11) from three-point range versus NDC and Urbana. This season, Pool is second in the MEC in three-point shooting (51.9 percent / 14-for-27).

FRONT COURT PLAY
In Concord's 96-87 win over Urbana, Concord's three post players of sophomore Riley Fitzwater, sophomore Tamra Scott and senior Courtney White combined to go 14-for-15 from the field while grabbing 17 rebounds. For White, she came off the bench to net a career high in points while going 5-for-5 from the floor. Eight of White's 10 points came in the third quarter. Fitzwater also did a bulk of her damage late in the game as she combined to score eight of her 10 points in either the fourth quarter or overtime. The Glenville, West Virginia native also recorded her third double-double of the young season by pulling down 10 rebounds. With the front court play, the Mountain Lions notched their best field goal percentage of the season (54.7 percent) on 35-for-64 shooting. It was also the highest field goal mark for CU since shooting 58.5 percent in a two-point loss to Notre Dame last February.

EASY BASKETS
Over the last three games, the Mountain Lions have averaged 17.6 points off turnovers per contest including a season-best 22 points versus Notre Dame. However, CU is forcing just 12.6 turnovers per game over the same three-game stretch. Of the 53 points Concord has scored off turnovers in three games, seven different players have recorded buckets led by Pool's 16 points. May has chipped 10 points while freshman forward Maggie Guynn and Scott have six each.

SPLITS
Last season Concord defeated Charleston and West Virginia State at home, but was unable to beat either team on the road. The Mountain Lions took out WVSU 87-76 in overtime and downed Charleston 75-70 inside the Carter Center. At the end of November last season, Concord dropped a 78-63 decision to the Golden Eagles and lost 90-68 on the road in late February to West Virginia State. In CU's victory over WVSU, Fitzwater notched the program's first ever 20-20 game with 26 points and 21 rebounds. May added 21 points and 15 rebounds as Concord overcame 27 turnovers to win in the extra session. CU owned a 66-43 advantage in rebounds and had a 62-42 edge in points in the pain. In the home win over UC, Concord got 21 points from May while Fitzwater chipped in 18. At Charleston, the Maroon and Gray was held to just 39.1 percent shooting—one of three times last season Concord was unable to shoot above 40 percent in a game. May tossed in 24 points and tallied 12 rebounds in the loss at West Virginia State as the Yellow Jackets connected on 14 three-pointers in a 90-68 win. In two meetings last season, CU was just 3-for-23 (13.0 percent) from three-point range against West Virginia State. The last time Concord swept Charleston and West Virginia State in the same season was 2011-12. Matter-of-factly, the Mountain Lions defeated UC three times during that season as they also beat Charleston in the conference tournament.

CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
Former University of Louisville standout Becky Burke is in her first season in charge of the Charleston program. Raziyah Farrington, a Western Carolina transfer, is fifth in the MEC in scoring averaging 20.2 points per game. The average margin of victory for the Golden Eagles is 14.4 points as three of their five wins have come by at least 11 points. Charleston is allowing just 56.4 points per game, the only team in the MEC to give up less than 60 points per game this season.

WEST VIRGINIA STATE AT A GLANCE
WVSU ranks right behind Concord in scoring per game in the league—fourth best at 74.0. As a full-court pressing team, West Virginia State forces nearly 24 turnovers per game. However, the Yellow Jackets turn the ball over 24 times a game themselves. Jordan Miller leads West Virginia State in scoring at 13.6 points per game. Alexandra Jackson is netting 10.6 points per game while averaging nearly four assists per contest.
