MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord defeated Wheeling Jesuit, 3-2, Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference contest to pick up its sixth win of the season. Last season, CU won its sixth game of the season on October 8.

The Mountain Lions went into the halftime intermission tied at 1-1 after sophomore midfielder Mira Kontio found the back of the net on a crossed ball from freshman forward Leah Foster.

Two goals from senior forward Pilar Elias, two minutes apart in the second half, was all Concord needed to down the Cardinals. Redshirt freshman midfielder Olivia Dougherty found Elias for the second goal of the contest.

Elias tallied her seventh goal of the season off a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Courtney Wallace putting the team ahead of Wheeling Jesuit.

Elias is tied for first of the MEC with seven goals for the 2018 season, along with Fairmont State's Abigail Johnson and West Virginia Wesleyan's Natalie Prater.

Last season, the Mountain Lions and the Fighting Falcons had two contests which were split. CU traveled to Fairmont for FSU to edge it with a 3-2 win after a tight contest went into double overtime.

Despite the loss to FSU in the first contest, Concord shutout Fairmont State at Anderson Field, 3-0, later in the 2017 season.

For both games last season, Elias and sophomore midfielder Yasmin Mosby scored one goal in each match.

Sophomore forward Sarah Hill and sophomore defender Morgan Carmichael each assisted one another while also having their own goals during the 3-0 shutout last season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Maher saved just eight shots between the two games during her freshman season against Fairmont State. Maher has made a total of 30 saves for the current year with a save percentage of .811.  The Blackburn, England native is second in the MEC in goal against average as she is allowing just 0.69 for the season.
