RECORDS
With just four regular season games left, Concord is in the thick of the Mountain East Conference playoff race. CU starts the weekend five points back of Urbana for fourth. The top four teams make the postseason.
Concord is 4-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the MEC.
West Virginia Wesleyan sports a mark of 2-9-2 and 2-9 against conference foes.
The Cardinals have a record of 8-3-2 overall and are 7-3 in the MEC.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
CU stayed in the middle of the postseason picture with a 2-1 win at West Liberty Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore midfielder
Maxime Ramioulle tallied both goals for the Mountain Lions including a goal in the 88
th minute to lift Concord to the victory. It was the latest game-winning goal for CU since sophomore midfielder
Moulay Hassani buried an overtime goal at Wheeling Jesuit last season in the 92
nd minue.
The brace—two goals—from Ramioulle put him into a tie for third in the MEC in goals scored this season with seven.
West Liberty became the second team that Concord has swept this season as the Mountain Lions also took both contests from Shepherd in 2018.
CU will be seeking revenge as it dropped both games on the road to West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit earlier this season.
The Maroon and Gray were narrowly edged by the Bobcats 3-2 on September 20 as it fell in an early 2-0 hole. Ramioulle and junior midfielder
Courtney Skerritt accounted for the Concord goals.
Ramioulle and Skerritt scored along with junior defender
Josh Sheffield in a 5-3 loss at Wheeling Jesuit less than two weeks ago. The eight goals was the highest scoring game Concord has been involved in since a 5-4 loss at Urbana last season.
Five of the last six meetings between Concord and West Virginia Wesleyan have been decided by one goal. The Mountain Lions knocked off WVWC at Anderson Field in 2016 in double overtime.
The only active players for CU to score on the Bobcats are Ramioulle and Skerritt earlier this season.
Â
Ramioulle also had a score on Wheeling Jesuit prior to this season. While Hassani netted the game winner on the road in 2017, Ramioulle scored CU's lone goal in a 1-1 draw at home last season.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
Matthew Bentley is the top scorer for the Bobcats this season with four goals to go along with two assists.
Of the 13 games West Virginia Wesleyan has played, nine have been decided by a goal or ended in a draw including four losses by a score of 1-0.
Besides the home win over CU, the lone win for WVWC this season is a 5-0 victory over Shepherd.
WHEELING JESUIT AT A GLANCE
The Cardinals had five different players score versus Concord when the teams matched up October 7.
Martin Minuzzi, who scored versus CU, has a team-best eight goals and ranks second in the league in goals.
WJU lost 1-0 to Charleston on Sunday which snapped a four-game winning streak.
