CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University football team dropped a 27-0 decision to the University of Charleston in Mountain East Conference action at Laidley Field Thursday night.
The Golden Eagles (1-1, 1-1 MEC) scored on the game's opening drive and added a late first-quarter touchdown to take a 13-0 lead into the second period. Charleston opened up the second quarter much the same way, scoring on a 12-play, 94-yard drive that took nearly five minutes.
UC's final score came near the end of the game.
Concord (0-2, 0-2 MEC) received a career night from senior defensive back
Dominic Wilson who racked up 19 tackles in the game. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native became the fourth player in the MEC in the last two seasons to have 19 tackles in a game.
Junior linebacker
Zach Malone finished the contest with 12 tackles and his second career sack. Junior defensive lineman
Colton Neal also recorded a sack in the game, his 6.5 career sack.
Sophomore wide receiver
Brandon Plyler caught a team-high four passes for 24 yards.
CU plays its third straight Thursday night game when it hosts UVa.-Wise 7:00 p.m. September 14 at Callaghan Stadium. Â
