Concord Falls at Notre Dame

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Concord University football team lost to Notre Dame, 44-13, in Mountain East Conference play Saturday afternoon at Mueller Field.

Concord (1-3, 1-3 MEC) scored the game's first touchdown, but the Falcons (3-1, 3-1 MEC) scored the next 35 points before CU was able to find the end zone again.

The Mountain Lions got on the board in the first quarter as freshman quarterback Adam Fulton—making his first start—led an eight play, 60-yard drive that ended with Fulton connecting with sophomore wide receiver Camari Murray for a 21-yard pass-and-catch score. It was also Murray's first career touchdown.

NDC scored twice in the second quarter to take a 14-6 lead into halftime.

After a 60-yard drive for Notre Dame that resulted in a score, the Falcons' next two scores were set up by the special teams. Notre Dame blocked a punt to create a short field and also returned a punt 90 yards for an additional score.

Senior running back Nick Loftin scored for the first time in 2017 as he plunged in from a yard to shrink the Concord deficit to 35-13 with 7:29 left in the third quarter.

Notre Dame used three late field goals for the final scoring in the game.

Fulton finished the game 14-of-31 for 174 yards and a touchdown through the air in his first collegiate action. Fulton took care of the ball by throwing no interceptions. CU has yet to throw a pick this season.

Murray hauled in four catches for 60 yards to go along with the touchdown. Sophomore wide receiver Brandon Plyler caught three passes for 50 yards.

Senior defensive back Dominic Wilson finished with a 13 tackles and a forced fumble. Sophomore defensive lineman Keionte Gainey had a career-high 12 tackles in the contest. Junior linebacker Zach Malone forced a second NDC fumble in the game.

Notre Dame quarterback Malik Grove accounted for over 300 yards of offense and four total touchdowns.

The Mountain Lions welcome Shepherd, a top-five ranked team in the nation, to Callaghan Stadium 12:00 p.m. next Saturday.
