MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
CU is 3-6 on the season after losing a four-set match at Winston-Salem State Wednesday.

The Mountain Lions were led by junior middle hitter Brooke Heck who had 13 kills and a .476 hitting percentage in the loss.

Heck has now hit at least .450 in four consecutive matches entering this weekend. No other Concord player has hit .450 or better in four straight matches during head coach Kate Dillon's tenure at CU, dating back to 2009.

The only Concord player to hit .450 or better in a three-game straight was current assistant coach Sarah Jones over a trio of matches in 2014.

Senior setter Casey Mandeville was one assist shy of her equaling her career best against Wisnton-Salem State as she handed 32.

The Plain City, Ohio native will return to her home state this weekend needing one assist to eclipse 1,800 for her career.

Speaking of career records, senior middle hitter Shea Hoffman passed Kayla Martin for ninth on the all-time blocks list during the Concord Classic, and needs nine more blocks to move into eighth on the all-time list.

Hoffman has 238 career blocks in her career.

Sophomore middle hitter Emily Ellis is ranked third in the Mountain East Conference in blocks per set, just averaging under one per set (0.97).

Over her last five matches that covers 21 sets, Ellis has 25 blocks including a career-high against West Virginia Wesleyan Friday night at the Carter Center. Ellis also had a career-best 15 kills in the four-set victory over the Bobcats.

CU is coming off a sweep of Salem International in the finale of the Concord Classic.

Freshman libero Lindsay Maddox tallied 21 digs in the straight-set win for the Mountain Lions. Meanwhile, freshman setter Kristen Spearen had career highs in both assists (eight) and digs (eight).

The Mountain Lions are 0-6 combined against Indiana (Pa.), Lock Haven and Mercyhurst.

Concord faced both IUP and Mercyhurst at the MEC-PSAC Crossover last season in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Against Mercyhurst, Ellis recorded 11 kills and two blocks.

Later in the tournament versus Indiana (Pa.), Heck led CU with 11 kills while sophomore setter Jenna Mounts handed out 20 assists.
