WISE, Va.-Â The Concord University women's basketball team fell 92-53 in its final game of the season at UVa.-Wise.Â
Concord finishes the season 7-21 overall (5-17 Mountain East Conference) while UVa.-Wise concludes the regular season at 20-10 (15-7 MEC).Â
The Mountain Lions contested the early stages with the Cavaliers, with back-to-back layups by senior guard
Alexis Lowery making the score 8-4 in favor of UVa.-Wise within the first two minutes of the game.Â
Lowery continued her strong start to the contest, making an old-school three-point play at the 5:59 mark to cut the UVa.-Wise lead to 15-10 after the Highland Cavaliers briefly led 13-4.Â
The Cavaliers outscored the Mountain Lions 17-10 over the end of the quarter to take a 32-20 lead after the first break. UVa.-Wise continued its hot shooting through the remainder first half, shooting 66.7 percent in the first 20 minutes to extend its lead to 50-29 at the break.Â
The Cavaliers scored 42 points in the second half to earn a 92-53 win.Â
Lowery paced the Mountain Lions with 21 points while adding five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guard
Emily Boothe added eight points, while junior guards
Danielle Catron and
Lindsey Overbey each added six.Â
