Box Score 2 HICKORY, N.C.-Â The Concord University softball team split its opening two games at the Bear Bash Tournament on Saturday afternoon hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne
The Mountain Lions defeated Mercyhurst 5-2 before dropping a 10-0 decision against Lenoir-Rhyne.
Concord's record is now 3-1 on the season, while Mercyhurst is now 0-3. L-R improves to 6-1 this season.Â

Allie Reid's second straight complete game along with some timely hitting helped the Mountain Lions claim a win in game one.
After the Lakers opened the game scoring a run on two hits, Concord responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.Â
Reid touched home after senior outfielder
Lauren Lewis drove her home with an RBI single to right field. Freshman second baseman
Jenna Witt then brought Lewis home with a triple to right field to finish the scoring for the inning and give Concord a 2-1 lead after one.Â
Concord extended its lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the third after hits from freshman pitcher / first baseman

Alayna Furr singled to bring home sophomore second baseman and pinch runner
Kylie Kent. Furr then raced home from an RBI triple from Reid. The final run of the inning came on an RBI groundout from Lewis that plated Reid. Â
Reid closed the game well in the circle, allowing just three hits the remainder of the game to help Concord earn a 5-2 victory. In the process, Reid retired 12 of 13 batters from the second inning through the sixth.
Reid (2-0) tossed seven innings to earn her second win of the season allowing just six hits, two earned runs and fanning two batters.
Furr finished 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Reid scored two runs while adding an RBI. Â

Game 2: Lenoir-Rhyne 10 - Concord 0
Lenoir-Rhyne did all of its damage in the first three innings, scoring 10 runs on 14 hits en route to a 10-0 victory over CU.Â

Sarah Herndon, and Reid each notched hits for Concord.Â
Herndon (0-1) took the loss in the circle.

Concord returns to action on Sunday with two matchups against Johnson C. Smith at 2:00 p.m. and Lees-McRae at 4:00 p.m. to conclude the Bear Bash tournament.Â
