WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Concord University men's basketball team erased a nine-point halftime deficit as it defeated Fayetteville State in the MEC-CIAA Challenge inside the Gaines Center.
Junior guard
Tommy Bolte had a career night as he scored 40 points, dished out 10 assists and shot 65.3 percent (17-for-26) from the floor in the win. Bolte's 40-point performance is the most for a CU play since Rob Reed hit 40 points against West Virginia State during the 2014-15 season.
The Mountain Lions outscored FSU 56-40 in the second half.
Senior guard
B.J. Hamlet poured in 13 points including three three-pointers to also finish in double figures.
Sophomore forward
Trey Brisco and freshman forward
Jyles Webster each had six rebounds. CU shot 49.3 percent from the floor as a team (33-for-67).
Josh Bryant led the Broncos with 23 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
The Mountain Lions conclude the MEC-CIAA Challenge 7:00 p.m. Saturday against host Winston-Salem State. Â
