FAIRMONT, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team fell 95-69 on the road to Fairmont State in Mountain East Conference action on Thursday night at Joe Retton Arena.
Concord drops to 2-15 overall (1-12 MEC), while Fairmont State improves to 11-8 (8-5 MEC).
The Fighting Falcons jumped out to a 20-2 run to take control of the game early on before a layup from junior guard
Danielle Catron helped to stop the run.
FSU led 32-14 after the first quarter.
The second quarter improved for the Mountain Lions defensively, holding FSU to 13 points less than the first quarter, but the Fighting Falcons took a 51-29 lead into halftime.
Concord could not come any closer in the second half, as FSU managed to maintain a double-digit lead all throughout the second half to win 95-67.
Sophomore guard
Emily Boothe continued her solid scoring streak, tallying a team-high 19 points. Junior center
Alley Odell added a season-high 15 points off of the bench, while Catron notched 13. Junior guard
Lindsey Overbey also scored in double figures for CU, adding 10. Boothe and junior forward
Heather Chapman each grabbed six rebounds.
Concord faces Shepherd on Saturday in Shepherdstown, West Virginia at 2:00 p.m.
