URBANA, Ohio- The Concord University softball team earned two wins over Urbana in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon as it took game 6-4 before exploding for a season-high 16 runs in a 16-5 decision.

Concord improves to 26-18 (14-11 MEC), while Urbana falls to 3-32 (2-21 MEC).

Game 1: Concord 6 - Urbana 4
After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning to the Blue Knights, Concord scored six of the next runs in the game to win. Â
CU tallied a run in the third inning to reduce the deficit to one, as junior outfielder
Lauren Lewis smashed a double down the right field line to drive home junior third baseman
Courtney Purtell, who reached on a double of her own.  Â

The Mountain Lions took the lead at 4-3 after a three-run fifth inning.Â

Alyssa Morris started the proceedings with a sacrifice fly before senior second baseman / outfielder
Kristen Rose ripped a triple to right center to score Lewis and sophomore third baseman
Alycea Watson.Â
After Urbana tied the game in the sixth inning, the Mountain Lions responded with two runs in the top of the seventh courtesy of Morris's 10th home run of the season. The two-run shot for Morris was enough to push Concord over the top as the Mountain Lions notched the come-from-behind win.

Abby Beatty improved to 7-1 in the circle, striking out four and allowing eight hits in a complete game effort.Â
Morris finished with three RBI, while Rose was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Lewis and junior shortstop
Alayna Furr each went 3-for-4 from the plate.    Â

Game 2: Concord 16 - Urbana 5
 A big day for the bats of the Mountain Lions saw CU take a 16-5 victory in game two of the series.Â
Concord was on the board in the second inning after freshman first baseman
Lauren Blunt cleared the bases with a double to left center field to collect three RBI. Blunt added another RBI courtesy of a bases loaded walk in the third inning to add to her total on the day. Watson and Rose each added RBI doubles in the third to give Concord an early 6-0 advantage.   Â

After adding two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth and sixth, the Mountain Lions put an exclamation mark on the offensive output in the seventh with six more runs.Â
The Blue Knights brought the game to 10-5 with one inning left to play, but the big seventh inning for CU helped put the game out of reach. After Lewis smashed an RBI triple to right field, the Mountain Lions did the rest of their damage with two outs. Freshman right fielder
Lindsey Stahl singled to right field to score two before Blunt singled to the opposite side to round her total to six RBI on the day. The other RBI in the frame came courtesy of Morris.

Blunt concluded game two by going 4-for-5 from the plate, with a career-high six RBI. Purtell would also go 4-for-5 with an RBI.Â
Stahl added three RBI, while Lewis and Watson each had two RBI each.Â
Rose picked up her first career victory for Concord in the circle.Â

Concord returns home for a six-game home stand when it hosts UVa.-Wise on Tuesday at 2 and 4 p.m.
