BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team and West Virginia Wesleyan split a twin bill Saturday afternoon at Hank Ellis Field in Mountain East Conference action as WVWC took the first game 5-4 before Concord stormed back for a 7-6 victory in the night cap.
The Mountain Lions move to 16-18 overall and 10-8 in the conference while West Virginia Wesleyan is 18-16 overall and 9-9 in the MEc.
Game 1: West Virginia Wesleyan 5 – Concord 4
After CU tied the game in the top of the seventh, the Bobcats got a walk-off hit in the bottom half of the frame to notch a one-run win over Concord.
Both scored in the first with redshirt freshman outfielder 
Jordan Clark singling in senior infielder 
Brad Sullivan. In the third inning, Concord plated two runs to take its first lead of the game, 3-2.
Clark recorded his second RBI of the game while redshirt freshman infielder 
Trevor Wiersma drove in Sullivan on a base hit.
CU's lead held up until a two-run fourth inning gave West Virginia Wesleyan a slim 4-3 edge.
WVWC preserved the lead until the seventh when back-to-back singles by freshman infielder 
Brett Simmons and senior outfielder 
Andrew Seigel started a Concord rally.
With the tying run, Simmons, stuck on second base and the Mountain Lions down to their last out of the game, a fielding error by WVWC allowed Simmons to cross the plate and knot the game 4-4.
However, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh West Virginia Wesleyan pushed across the winning run to win 5-4.
Sophomore infielder 
Chad Frazier and Simmons each had two hits while Clark and Wiersma recorded two RBI a piece.
Senior pitcher 
Chris Kelly (5-4) was tagged with the loss as he gave up eight hits and five runs (four earned) in 6.2 innings.
Game 2: Concord 7 – West Virginia Wesleyan 6
Five runs by Concord in the top of the eighth wiped away a 6-2 deficit as the Mountain Lions came back to win game two.
The Bobcats scored three runs in the first and seventh while CU notched a run in the first and again in the fifth.

Andy Szamski and senior infielder 
Holt Cassada put Concord in business in the eighth with one out. Williams hustled home on a Bobcats' error before Sullivan broke through with a two-out, two-run single to draw Concord to within 6-5.
The next batter, Frazier, smacked a double to push across two more runs and give Concord a 7-6 advantage.
Sophomore pitcher 
Reece Edwards tossed the final 2.2 innings, allowing a run on three hits and fanning two batters to earn his first win of the season in relief of freshman pitcher 
Troy Beckner who went 6.1 innings striking out six.
Frazier and Sullivan combined for all six RBI while three each. Seigel added three hits for the fourth time this season. Szamski and Williams each added two hits.
Concord concludes its four-game series at West Virginia Wesleyan 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
