Concord's Season Ended at Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team fell 74-63 to the home standing Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons in the first round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. 
 
The Mountain Lions conclude their season at 5-24 (3-19 MEC), while Fairmont State advances to Charleston with a 19-10 record overall, and finished 12-10 in MEC play.
 
Both Concord and Fairmont State came out of the gate quickly, with each team shooting abouve 45 percent in the first half, including Concord nailing six three-pointers to keep the gap between CU and FSU to within just six at the break.  Freshman guard Emily Boothe started the game hot, making four of her first five shots, with three of those coming from downtown.
 
Fairmont State started the second half well, using a 9-2 run to stretch their lead from six to 13 in a span of just over two minutes to start the second half.  The run proved to be a major factor in deciding the game, as Concord could not cut the lead to any closer than 10 after that.           
 
Concord was led in scoring by sophomore guard Danielle Catron, who poured in 19 points while grabbing seven rebounds.  Junior guard Alexis Lowery added 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Boothe scored in double figures with 11, while senior forward Kylie Molisee posted a double double of 11 points and 11 rebounds in her final game for the Maroon and Gray. 
 
Deidra Combs and Amanda Ruffner, who each had 16 points, led Fairmont State.  The Fighting Falcons had five players score in double figures.
