Sanchez's Three-Pointer Propels Concord to 65-64 Road Win at Wesleyan

Box Score ATHENS, W.Va. – Junior guard Michael Sanchez made two three-pointers in Thursday's contest at West Virginia Wesleyan, the second one he made was the ultimate difference in Concord's 65-64 road win in Mountain East Conference win.

Trailing by two points after WVWC's Garrett Grantham made a free throw, Concord (15-6, 10-5 MEC) was scrambling down the floor with time winding down. Sanchez grabbed the in-bound and took off down the right side of the floor. The junior point guard promptly buried a triple to put Concord ahead 65-64 with three seconds left.

After a Bobcat timeout, the inbound came in to Wesleyan's Mo Berchie who missed a fade away from jumper as time expired and Concord hung on for a one-point win.

The Bobcats fall to 12-9 overall and 7-8 in the league.

Senior forward Terry Hopewell scored 14 points while senior forward Jametrius Wade pulled down his second straight double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Rob Reed and junior guard Cam Shannon added 11 points each while Sanchez had 10 points.

Concord outrebounded the Bobcats 37-24 and also had 15 second-chance points to WVWC's seven.

The Mountain Lions resume MEC play Saturday 4:00 p.m. at Glenville State.
