CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team lost 92-62 to the University of Charleston at the Charleston Civic Center Thursday night in Mountain East Conference action.
The Golden Eagles (14-13, 11-10 MEC) opened up the game by going on a 22-9 run over the first seven minutes of the game. However, CU (18-9, 13-8 MEC) scored nine of the next 11
points to trim its deficit to 24-18 with 9:37 left in the first half. Junior guard
Cam Shannon scored five of his 10 points during the run.
Charleston recorded eight of the next 10 points to quickly elevate its lead back to double-digits. After trailing by 17 at halftime, 56-39, Concord was only able to get the deficit to 15 points once more for the rest of the game as the Mountain Lions fell.
Senior guard
Rob Reed scored a team-high 19 points for the Maroon and Gray. Along with Reed and Shannon, senior forward
Jametrius Wade dropped in double digits with 11 points.
One of the decisive stats in the game was UC outscoring Concord 23-0 in points off turnovers.
The Mountain Lions conclude the regular season 4:00 p.m. Saturday against UVa.-Wise on Senior Day at the Carter Center.
