Opening TipConcord heads into the matchups at 5-19 overall (3-15 MEC). Urbana sits at 10-12 overall, and 9-9 in conference play. Notre Dame will enter the next slate of Mountain East games at 16-8 overall and 13-5 in Mountain East play.
Mountain Lion Notes• Sophomore guard
Danielle Catron went off for 28 points, a new career-high on the road against the Falcons of Notre Dame on January 10th.
• Catron was 12-for-17 from the field, and went 4-for-6 from three-point land. Freshman guard
Emily Boothe easily had her best game of her young career as a Mountain Lion just two days later.
• Boothe poured in 26 points for the Mountain Lions while shooting a blistering 10-for-14 from the field and 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.
• Boothe and Catron will hope to continue to help Concord score points against the two Ohio schools.
• Urbana ranks last in scoring defense, giving up 86.9 points per game.
• Notre Dame ranks 10th in field goal percentage defense, allowing their opponents to shoot 44.1 percent this season
Free Throw Efficiency• Concord has excelled from the free throw line this season, shooting 71.5 percent from the line, just shy of third place in the conference.
• Individually Concord has six players shooting over 70 percent from the line, and senior center
Kylie Molisee and freshman forward
Jenna Holton just narrowly missing the cut at 69.4 percent and 68.2 percent respectively.
• Free throw shooting has been important for the Mountain Lions this season, as they have made at least 10 free throws in four of their five wins this season.
An Even Keel• Urbana's victory over the Mountain Lions this season gave the Blue Knights a slight advantage in the all-time series between the two schools, with UU now leading 3-2 all time.
• Concord has a slight edge in the scoring margin, outscoring the Blue Knights over five meetings 379-373.
• Concord was locked into a close battle with Urbana earlier this season, falling by five points on the road 88-83.
• Concord led until nine minutes left in the game, but a late surge by Urbana helped them to pull away from the Mountain Lions.
Hitting Their Mark• While Concord fell in both games in Ohio, their most efficient offense stemmed from the road trip to Notre Dame and Urbana.
• Concord shot at or above 50 percent in both of the matchups (50.8 at Notre Dame), (50 percent at Urbana).
• Concord also used the 3-point shot to help their offensive output, nailing 13 three-pointers at Urbana, and nine three-pointers at Notre Dame College.
• Catron led the charge, averaging 26 points per game over the two games.
Scouting Urbana • The Blue Knights currently stand at 10-12 this season, are 9-9 in conference play,, and are currently on a three game winning streak.
• Urbana has beaten Charleston on the road, and toppled Shepherd and Fairmont State at home during their three-game win streak.
• The Blue Knights have been better at home, posting a 6-4 mark at the Grimes Center, and are just 4-8 on the road.
• UU is led in scoring by Danie Shafer, who is averaging 17.3 points per game.
• Jazymyn Haley leads Urbana in rebounding, grabbing 7.9 boards per game.
• The Blue Knights are third in scoring offense, scoring 78.7 points per game.
• However, they have also allowed the most points in the league per game, giving up 86.9 per game played.
Scouting Notre Dame • Notre Dame also heads into the next slate of MEC games on a three-game winning streak.
• The Falcons defeated West Virginia State on the road, before also beating Shepherd and Fairmont State at home.
• The Falcons have proven that they can hang with anyone in the league, defeating West Liberty 65-61 earlier in the year, and losing by one to Wheeling Jesuit earlier in the season.
• Notre Dame is led in multiple categories by Martha Nagbe, who averages 17.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, and leads the Mountain East Conference in steals at 4.3 swipes per game.
