ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team opens the 2016-17 campaign in Fairmont, West Virginia at the MEC/PSAC Challenge with matchups against Lock Haven and Clarion. All three teams will be playing their season openers on Friday. Concord tips off with Lock Haven at 2:00 p.m. on Friday before playing Clarion on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
The Mountain Lions return four players who started 15 or more games last season.
Sophomore guard
Emily Boothe (17), senior guard
Alexis Lowery (20), junior guard
Danielle Catron (25), and senior guard
Olivia Morgan (29), bring a combined 91 starts between them as well as a combined 3,225 minutes of action last season.
Also returning for Concord are junior
Lindsey Overbey (11 starts), sophomore forward
Jenna Holton (3 starts), sophomore forward
Courtney White (5 starts), junior forward
Meghan Nicholson (1 start), junior guard
Anne Golinsky (16 games played), and sophomore guard
Courtney Vasquez (22 games played).

Alley Odell also return for CU after missing the 2015-16 season.
FRESH FACES
In addition to the returners for Concord, there are six new players on the roster for the 2016-17 season.

Heather Chapman figures to see time as a transfer from Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina.
At SMC Chapman poured in 19 points per game while nabbing 11.5 rebounds per game en route to being named the Regional Player of the Year.

Taylor Baltimore, freshman forward
Madison May, freshman guard
Taylor Moon, and sophomore guard
Nila Hellams, a transfer who averaged 18 minutes per game at Lees-McRae last season.
PSAC TESTS
Concord has never faced Lock Haven.
However, the Mountain Lions own a 4-1 record all-time against Clarion.
Clarion and the Mountain Lions last met almost four years ago to the day when they matched up against the Golden Eagles on November 10, 2012 at the very same Joe Retton Arena the two teams will play on Friday.
Clarion earned its only win in the series with an 81-75 victory over the Mountain Lions. The game was the last time Concord played a PSAC opponent.
Points RETURNING
Concord returns 80 percent of its scoring from last season, including four of its top five scorers.
Catron (13.9), Boothe (8.9), Lowery (8.0), and Overbey (7.5) will all return this year for Concord.
Concord's lone senior last year was
Kylie Molisee, who averaged 11.4 points per game last season.
Catron, last year's leading scorer, also ranked 14th in the MEC in points per game last season.
SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN
Lock Haven begins the season after an 11-16 campaign in 2015-16.
The Bald Eagles were 1-1 at neutral court sites last year.
Mackenzie Livingston returns for LHU, averaging 10.5 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game last season.
SCOUTING CLARION
Clarion opens the season on Friday against Fairmont State before taking on Concord in Saturday's matchup.
The Golden Eagles finished the season at 9-19 last season.
The Golden Eagles were markedly better at home, posting a 6-7 record at Clarion, and a 3-12 record at road and neutral sites last year.
Jordan Bekelja returns for Clarion. Bekelja averaged 10 points per game while also dishing out 3.4 assists per game last season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
28- Three-pointers hoisted by CU in the final game of the season last year. CU had three players (Boothe, Catron, and Morgan) shoot 35% or better from behind the arc last season.
