Concord Prepares for Two-Game Road Trip

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball takes to the road for a two matches away from the Carter Center as it faces West Virginia Wesleyan 7:00 p.m. Friday before traveling to Glenville State 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
The Mountain Lions evened its MEC record at 2-2 with a three-set victory over UVa.-Wise Tuesday night at home while improving to 7-9 overall.

With the win over the Cavaliers, CU stands one win shy of matching last year's win total. Furthermore, the Mountain Lions didn't pick up their seventh win of the season until October 23.

Sophomore middle hitter Brooke Heck tallied 14 kills and a season-best .619 hitting percentage in Concord's win against UVa.-Wise.

Meanwhile, sophomore middle hitter Lindsay Lannen tied her career-high with seven kills and garnered a new personal-best with five blocks in CU's win.

Junior setter Casey Mandeville notched 25 assists in the victory for her fifth 20-assist match of 2016. The Plain City, Ohio native is halfway to her total of 20-assist matches from last season after recording nine such contests in 2015.

Mandeville needs 65 more assists to pass Tomi Dement for sixth on the all-time career list at CU. She enters the weekend with 1,198 assists in her career.

By having 20 attack attempts in her last two matches, junior middle hitter Shea Hoffman enters the career hitting percentage list in fifth.

The South Charleston, West Virginia native is fifth in the ranks, hitting .194 for her time in the Maroon and Gray.

By continuing her solid play, sophomore middle hitter Alexi Pranckus is now just one point behind Amber Miller for 10th on the all-time hitting percentage list at Concord.

Pranckus is hitting .141 for her career.

Over its last three matches, CU has tallied 23 blocks that includes a 10-block performance for junior middle hitter Alexis Elliott against Alderson-Broaddus, a five-block contest for Lannen and a four-block outing for Hoffman versus UVa.-Wise.

The Mountain Lions rank fifth in the MEC in blocks per set at 1.91.

Last season, Concord combined to go 3-1 against West Virginia Wesleyan.

Pranckus powered a four-set win for the Mountain Lions at home against WVWC with 16 kills and 12 digs while junior outside hitter Lisette Roldan had eight kills and four service aces.

Heck had 20 combined kills in two matches versus Glenville State and hit over .675 in both contest.

Sophomore libero Erin Shannon had 18 digs in each road match against the Bobcats and GSC.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
WVWC is 5-12 on the season and picked up its first conference win in straight sets over Glenville State Tuesday night.

The Bobcats have two straight matches after defeating Malone over the weekend.

Hannah King has registered 118 kills while hitting .225 for West Virginia Wesleyan. King also has 36 blocks on the season.

SCOUTING GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers are looking for their first win of the season.

Bailey Brawner has notched 111 kills for Glenville State.
