SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Concord University football team could not overcome 14 unanswered points by Shepherd as the Mountain Lions fell 21-7 Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at Ram Stadium.
SU (7-0, 7-0 MEC) scored on the opening possession of the game as Shepherd running back Brandon Hlavach capped a nine-play, 70-yard drive on a one-yard rush. Both teams traded the field before the Mountain Lions (2-6, 2-6 MEC) before senior quarterback
Brian Novak found
Davon McGill for a 23-yard touchdown strike to even up the game at 7-7 two minutes into the second quarter.
The Rams answered on the ensuing possession with Hlavach running for a 46-yard score.
Concord trailed 14-7 at the intermission.
The final score of the game came when Shepherd quarterback Jeff Ziemba scrambled for a 13-yard touchdown run.
Over the final 17 minutes of the game, Concord was able to drive into Rams' territory once more but could not muster any points as the final score finished 21-7.

Concord also netted three sacks on the afternoon with sophomore defensive lineman
Colton Neal recording his second career multi-sack game while senior defensive lineman
Darryl Johnson took down Ziemba once.

Akil Bordelon notched a career-high 12 tackles.
Novak finished the game 13-for-20 for 120 yards and one touchdown. McGill was CU's top receiver as he caught the score while adding four receptions for 51 yards.
Concord hosts Glenville State 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Callaghan Stadium for Senior Day.
