ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team fell to the visiting Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons 80-57 on Thursday night at the Carter Center.Â
Concord falls to 4-15 on the season (2-11 MEC), while Fairmont improves to 15-4 on the year (9-4 MEC).
Fairmont came out of the gate quickly after junior guard
Olivia Morgan made a three-pointer to make the game 9-5 in favor of the Fighting Falcons, using a 14-6 run to take a 23-11 lead after the first quarter.Â
FSU continued to put the pressure on in the second quarter, extending their lead to 18 points at halftime 41-23.Â
Concord attempted to close the gap during the third quarter, closing the gap to 12 after freshman guard
Emily Boothe made a three-pointer to make the score 50-38. However, Fairmont would continue to make shots and foil any attempt for Concord to get back into the game.Â
Concord was led in scoring by senior forward
Kylie Molisee, who scored 16 points and added five rebounds. Morgan also tied a career-high in points with 13 on the night.Â
Deidra Combs led the Fighting Falcons with 23 points.Â
