URBANA, Ohio – A 22-0 run to start the second half fueled the Concord University men's basketball team to a 100-90 win at Urbana Tuesday night in Mountain East Conference play at the Grimes Center.
CU picks up its 10
th victory of the season, improving to 10-4 overall and 5-3 in the league. Urbana falls to 1-12 overall and 0-8 in the MEC.
Down 50-42 at halftime, the Mountain Lions scored an unprecedented 22 straight points to turn an eight-point deficit into a comfortable 14-point lead at the 13:53 mark of the second half.

CU continued to keep the pressure on and its lead above 10 points for all but a few seconds towards the end of the game. Additionally, Concord led by as much as 19 in the second half.
UU scored the first bucket of the game, but it would be the only time the Mountain Lions trailed over the first 16 minutes of the contest. In fact, the Maroon and Gray held a margin of 10 points after a basket by junior forward
Stephen Thompson with 7:25 left in the first half gave CU a 36-26 lead.
However, the Blue Knights used an 18-6 run over the final 5:47 of the first half to grab a 50-42 intermission edge before Concord stormed out of the locker room to take command of the game on its way to the 10-point margin of victory.
After shooting 53.0 percent from the field Sunday at Notre Dame, the Mountain Lions put together another 50 percent shooting effort from the floor, going 38-for-66 for a 57.6 percent clip.
Reed led all scorers with 26 points, his eighth 20-point game of the season. Hopewell just missed a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. Miller added 17 points.
Wade put together a workman-like effort despite fighting foul trouble all night, finishing with seven points and nine rebounds.
The Mountain Lions owned a decisive edge on the board (37-27) including holding a 22-9 advantage in the second half.
After four straight on the road to begin the New Year, the Mountain Lions will host back-to-back nationally-ranked teams Saturday and Monday at the Carter Center.
First up is No. 24 Wheeling Jesuit 4:00 p.m. Saturday before entertaining No. 1 West Liberty 7:30 p.m. Monday. Â
