WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision against Wheeling Jesuit Tuesday night at Bishop Schmitt Field in Mountain East Conference play.
Senior forward
Kari Simon netted the only goal for the Mountain Lions (1-1-1, 0-1-0 MEC) which tied the game with 26 minutes left to go. The goal for Simon was the 28
th on her illustrious CU career.
Earlier in the first half, Wheeling Jesuit's Meghan Horan scored the game's first goal to push WJU to a 1-0 edge. However, after a good attempt at goal from freshman midfielder
Taylor Life was stopped by the Cardinals' goalkeeper, Simon evened the game with her score four minutes later.
Wheeling Jesuit was able to knock in the game-winning goal with 22 minutes remaining to down the Mountain Lions.
Of the four shots on goal for CU, Simon tallied two of them while junior forward
Emily Cole and Life had one each.
CU was outshot 16-9 on total shots and 7-4 in shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper
Emily Simpkins made five saves for the Maroon and Gray.
Concord will come back to Anderson Field 2:00 p.m. Friday to host Fairmont State.
