Concord Looking to Earn Victories Versus Urbana, at Wesleyan

ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University women's soccer team will look to get back to winning ways in the Mountain East Conference when they take on Urbana University at home on Thursday, before traveling to West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.

 Concord goes into Thursday's match with a 2-1-2 overall record, and a 1-1-1 record in the MEC.  
 
Urbana heads into the matchup with a 2-2 record, and a 1-1 record in conference play.
 
 West Virginia Wesleyan is currently 4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. 
 
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES 
• Concord is averaging the most goals per game in the Mountain East Conference, with 1.8. 
 
• The Mountain Lions also average the most assists in the Mountain East, with six assists on their nine goals this season. 
 
• Senior forward Kari Simon  has the most points in the Mountain East Conference this season, with 10 (four goals, two assists). 
 
• Freshman forward Pilar Elias (three goals, one assist), and junior forward Emily Cole (one goal and three assists) also rank third and fourth in the conference with seven and five points, respectively. 
 
• Freshman goalkeeper Emily Simpkins is third in the conference with 24 saves, and averages 4.8 saves a game, good for fourth. 
 
• CU ranks only fifth in total shots per game, but have registered 53% of their shots on goal, compared to just 40% of shots on goal for opponents Concord has faced this season. 
 
• Concord has scored seven of their nine goals in the second half this season. 

• Concord has also registered more shots (40) in the second half than the first half (24) this season. 
 
• Ten different Mountain Lions have tested the goalkeeper with a shot on goal this season.     
                
 SCOUTING URBANA
• Urbana has scored four goals in their first four games of the season.
 
• The Blue Knights are coming into the match vs. Concord off of back-to-back shutout victories over Oakland City and West Liberty by scores of 3-0 and 1-0 respectively. 
 
• Urbana's consecutive shutouts have come after giving up seven goals in their first two matches. 
 
SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
 • West Virginia Wesleyan is coming off of a season in which they finished 13-5-3 and advanced to the round of 16 of the Division II women's soccer tournament. 
 
• The Bobcats were also listed as receiving votes in the latest NCAA Division II rankings.
 
• West Virginia Wesleyan's defense has only allowed one goal through their first four games of the season.
