Concord to Test 2-0 Conference Record Versus Urbana

ATHENS, W.Va - The Concord University men's soccer team will look to improve on its 2-0 start to conference play when they host Urbana on Thursday before traveling to Buckhannon to take on West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.

RECORDS
• Concord goes into the game at 2-1, with a 2-0 record in the Mountain East Conference after wins on the road at Shepherd and Wheeling Jesuit. 

• Urbana's record currently stands at 1-1-1 on the season, with an 0-1 mark in conference play so far after falling to Charleston by a score of 4-1.

• The Bobcats are 0-2 in the conference to start, losing to nationally-ranked Charleston and Notre Dame College 3-1 and 4-2 respectively.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Concord posted a 2-0 record against Urbana last season, winning 4-1 in Athens and 2-1 in overtime at Urbana. 

• Senior defender Jared Garlow and senior forward David Nwankwo scored two of the four games for the Mountain Lions in home victory while sophomore midfielder Maximillian Simpson netted a road goal off a free kick for CU versus the Blue Knights last season. 

• Senior goalkeeper Mitchell Thompson has recorded 15 saves in the past two games with no goals allowed to earn the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week Award. 

• Simpson has registered one goal and one assist throughout the first three games of the season. 

• Concord has started a season 2-1 for the first time since 2013. 

• CU  is currently tied for first in the conference standings with Charleston and Notre Dame with six points through two conference games. 

• The Mountain Lions also tied for the conference lead in shutouts with Charleston, with two throughout their first three games.   
 
SCOUTING URBANA
• Raoui Lassoued is 2nd in the MEC in shots per game with an average of 4.67 so far this season. 
 
• Goalkeeper Nathan Jones currently leads the conference in save percentage at .900
 
• Urbana has scored all three of its goals this season in the 2nd half of play. 
 
SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
• Wesleyan has already played in two overtime games this season, falling to California (Pa.) 3-2 and tying fellow PSAC rival Millersville 0-0. 

• Senior midfielder Jordan Halpern is tied for second in the conference in goals, with three goals through three games.
