ATHENS, W.Va. – On Senior Night, the Concord University softball team split a doubleheader with the University of Charleston at the CU Softball Complex in Mountain East Conference play.
Concord tied the all-time mark for wins in a single season at 31 as it won game one 7-0 before dropping the nightcap 6-2 to the Golden Eagles.
Game 1: Concord 7 – Charleston 0Sophomore outfielder
Lauren Lewis' third inning three-run home run put the Mountain Lions up 6-0 at the time as CU rolled to a 7-0 win.
Junior pitcher
Allie Reid limited UC's offense to three hits as she tossed her second consecutive complete game shutout in as many days. With the win, Reid improved to 9-4 on the season while also striking out four Charleston hitters.
In addition to Lewis' homer in the third, CU also scored three runs in the second with senior outfielder
Jessica Seymour's two-RBI double to right field accounting for two of the Mountain Lion runs as Lewis and Reid crossed the plate on the two-base hit. Also in the inning, sophomore catcher
Carly DiVirgilio drew a bases-loaded walk to put the first run on the board in the second.
The Mountain Lions added a run in the bottom of the sixth as Lewis scored on an error after leading off the inning with a double.
Lewis led the CU offensive attack with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate with three RBI while Seymour recorded two RBI.
Game 2: Charleston 6 – Concord 2Charleston's Bethany Williams hit a three-run home run to center field in the fifth as UC went from leading 1-0 to 4-0 on the blast.
The Golden Eagles added two more runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-0 lead.

Alyssa Morris brought in sophomore shortstop
Alayna Furr after Furr ripped a triple to deep center field with one out in the sixth.
Freshman outfielder
Emily Fry recorded an RBI groundout in the seventh to trim the UC lead to 6-2, but it was the closest CU would get in its comeback attempt.
Senior pitcher / first baseman
Lacey McDougall (14-6) was tagged with the loss as she went six innings and gave up four earned runs while fanning four UC hitters.
Furr had her fourth three-hit game of the season as she went 3-for-3 with a triple in the loss.
Concord will host West Virginia State 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Â
