AVON, Ohio – The Concord University baseball team earned a split with Notre Dame College in Mountain East Conference play Saturday at All Pro Freight Stadium.
CU (9-8, 8-6 MEC) was clipped 7-6 on a walk-off single in game one before bouncing back to win the nightcap 11-5 over the Falcons (6-4, 6-2 MEC).
Game 1: Notre Dame 7 – Concord 6After letting a 6-2 lead slip away, NDC's Andrew Hurd notched a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Falcons a win in the first game of the doubleheader.

Andy Szamski in the third inning to draw within 3-2 of NDC.
However, the Falcons responded with three runs in the fourth inning to open up a 6-2 lead on the Mountain Lions.
CU began its comeback bid in the fifth inning as an RBI groundout from junior infielder
Holt Cassada was followed by a two-RBI base knock from redshirt freshman third baseman

After the three-run fifth, Concord was down 6-5.
Groves recorded his second RBI of the afternoon and brought in the game's tying run, redshirt freshman

But with runners on first and second, Hurd brought in pinch runner Tanner Dovsek for the NDC win.

Barinder Rakkar (1-2) allowed seven runs in 6.1 innings, however, only three were earned.
Groves and D. Frazier each had two RBI while D. Frazier recorded his first career three-hit game.
Game 2: Concord 11 – Notre Dame 5A five-run fourth inning turned a 3-2 lead into a convincing six-run victory for Concord as they split two games with NDC.
The Mountain Lions began the scoring as Cassada and D. Frazier came away with RBI in the first inning, and Johnston added a run-scoring single in the third inning.
Notre Dame retaliated with two runs in the third, however, Concord went to work in the fourth as Cassada continued his stellar day with a two-run single in the frame. D. Frazier and Szamski also had RBI base hits while Cassada came around to score on a NDC error to complete the Concord outburst in the fourth.
With the five runs, CU went up 8-2 after four innings.
CU went onto score three more runs in the game with two of them coming on a triple to left center field by Szamski.
Senior pitcher
Bryant Pybus made his first start of the season to earn his first win of the season as he tossed all seven innings while allowing three earned runs.
Concord's one through four hitters of Groves, Szamski, Cassada and D. Frazier collected nine of the team's 13 hits as Groves pounded out three. Cassada and Szamski had three RBI apiece.
D. Frazier finished the doubleheader 5-for-9 with five RBI.
Concord will continue its 10-game road trip when they play a doubleheader at West Virginia State 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Â
