Concord Drops Road Contest at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Senior forward Rachel Artrip scored a season-best 25 points, but the Concord University women's basketball fell to West Liberty 98-61 in Mountain East Conference action.

West Liberty (15-7, 12-4 MEC) jumped out on the Mountain Lions 15-4 lead as the Hilltoppers led wire-to-wire over CU (6-15, 6-10 MEC).

Artrip carried Concord as she notched her third double-double of the season with 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds. The Swords Creek, Virginia native made four three-pointers and has made nine triples in her last two contests.

Seven of Artrip's rebounds came on the offensive end, a career high.

For the game, the Mountain Lions grabbed more offensive rebounds than they did defensive boards (21-18). It was the first time since Feb. 22, 2014 that the Mountain Lions have had 20 or more offensive rebounds. Additionally, it was the first time since Nov. 27, 2012 that CU had recorded more offensive boards than defensive.  

Senior forward Jacqueline Kestner tied her season-high six steals in the game.

West Liberty was led by Liz Flowers who finished with 21 points and knocked down 7-of-12 three-point attempts. Kailee Howe had a double-double of 12 points and 17 assists.

The Mountain Lions will play at Wheeling Jesuit 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
