AIKEN, S.C. – The Concord University softball team lost a pair of non-conference games, 5-0 and 5-4, to USC-Aiken Saturday afternoon at J.H. Satcher Field.

CU (4-7) was led by sophomore shortstop / outfielder Alayna Furr had two hits in game two to pace the offensive attack.
Game 1: USC-Aiken 5 – Concord 0
The Mountain Lions were limited to three hits by USC-Aiken pitcher Taylor Morgan.

The Pacers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third and added a single run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Senior pitcher / first baseman Lacey McDougall, junior second baseman / outfielder Kristen Rose and sophomore first baseman / third baseman Courtney Purtell had one hit each for the Mountain Lions.

McDougall (2-3) was charged with the loss after giving up four earned runs on 10 hits in six innings. McDougall struck out four batters as well.

Game 2: USC-Aiken 5 – Concord 4

A four-run fourth inning by USC-Aiken was too much for the Mountain Lions to overcome as they lost by a run.

CU scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth as sophomore catcher / outfielder Carly DiVirgilio scored on a fielding error from right fielder Lyndie Dorgan.

However, the Pacers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Concord would draw even by scoring two runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh.

In the sixth, junior pitcher Allie Reid scored on a throwing error after advancing to third base on a sacrifice fly during the same play by sophomore shortstop / outfielder Lauren Lewis.

Furr, the next batter, drove in senior second baseman Whitney Carrigan, who had advanced to third on Lewis' sacrifice fly and subsequent error from the Pacers.

The game's tying run came without the Mountain Lions even getting a hit.

Rose led off the seventh by walking and stealing second and advanced to third on a flyout before scoring on a groundout by junior catcher Alyssa Morris.

USC-Aiken's Victoria Burkett hit the game-winning single with two outs in the seventh to give the Pacers the walk-off victory.

Furr collected her second multi-hit game of the season by going 2-for-3 while her and Morris each recorded an RBI.

Reid (0-1) was charged in the loss in a relief effort after giving up the winning run.

Sophomore pitcher / outfielder Sarah Herndon started the game for Concord, going 3.2 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits.
