ELKINS, W.Va. – Fueled by an 18-0 run over the middle part of the first half, the Concord University men's basketball team earned an 85-69 road win against Davis & Elkins in non-conference play Monday night at the McDonnell Center.
Concord improves to 8-1 as they snapped a four-game winning streak by the Senators (4-5).
With the game tied at 24-24 and 11:33 remaining until halftime, the Mountain Lions rolled off the next 18 points and were never threatened again.
Junior guard
Aaron Miller started the run by knocking down two three-pointers while fellow junior guard
Cam Shannon added a jumper.

Jametrius Wade added two of the next three field goals with a Shannon three-pointer sandwiched between Wade's shots. Senior guard
Rob Reed put an exclamation point on the run with one of his six three-pointers in the contest.
During the nine-minute stretch in which Concord scored 18 straight points, the Mountain Lions also clamped down defensively. Davis & Elkins missed 12 consecutive shots and had four turnovers. CU also forced the Senators into taking jumpers as only three of the 12 misses were in the paint.
The Mountain Lions took a 45-32 advantage to the locker room. In the second half, Davis & Elkins cut the lead to 73-65 with 7:45 left in the game, but Concord went on a quick 9-0 run to put away the Senators. Reed and junior guard
Michael Sanchez each added a three-pointer during the spurt.
After 9-0 scoring run, Concord lead 82-65 with 4:23 left as it went on to win 85-69.
Reed led all scorers in the game with 22 points as he made six three-pointers in the game.
Wade just missed a double-double as he scored 13 points, collected nine rebounds and tied his career-high with five assists.
Sanchez had a career night as he scored a career-best 19 points while recording six steals, a personal-best. Miller also finished in double figures with 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting.
Making his second start of the season, senior forward
Taylor Smith scored six points and added a season-best eight boards.
CU edged the Senators on the glass (41-38) and in field goal percentage (45.1-42.6).
The Mountain Lions will host Bluefield State 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Carter Center.
