ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team will continue its early-season schedule on the road Friday night at nationally-ranked Wheeling Jesuit beginning at 6:00 p.m.
RECORDS• Concord enters play with an 8-6 record overall and 0-2 mark in the Mountain East Conference. Wheeling Jesuit is 11-1 this season and 2-0 in the MEC. The Cardinals are ranked sixth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES• CU has played 12 of its 14 matches away from the Carter Center this season, holding a record of 7-5 outside of Athens.
• With a win, the Mountain Lions will surpass last year's win total in road or neutral site matches. Concord was 8-13 in such games a season ago.
• In the latest NCAA rankings, the Mountain Lions are ranked 28
th in the nation of 287 teams in total kills with 557 kills. Â
• Senior middle hitter
Sarah Jones and senior outside hitter
Brytni Willis have led the offensive effort for the Mountain Lions. Jones is 11
th nationally in total kills with 176 while Willis is 29
th among Division II spikers with 154.
• As a team, Concord has tallied the most blocks in the MEC with 133. Freshman middle hitter
Shea Hoffman leads all CU players with 35 total blocks. Over her last six matches, Hoffman has 20 blocks.
• The South Charleston, West Virginia native is also third on the team in kills behind Jones and Willis with 77.
• The Mountain Lions are the second-best serving team in the MEC with 72 aces. Willis leads the way with 22 while senior setter
Nikki McMillan has 17 and senior libero
Amanda Walker has totaled 16.
• Walker has at least one service aces in all but one match this season and has a current streak of six straight matches recording an ace.
• Jones finds herself among the MEC's elite in some statistical categories, kills per set (second / 3.6) and  hitting percentage (fifth / .294).
SCOUTING WHEELING JESUIT• Since the MEC was formed before the 2013 season, WJU has yet to lose a game in conference play as they are 18-0.
• Over their last 20 matches the Cardinals have only lost two matches, both losses coming to defending Division II National Champion Concordia-St. Paul.
• Wheeling Jesuit's Emma Schleucher has the best hitting percentage in the MEC at .362 while registering 101 kills this season.
