Box Score ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team tied with Urbana 0-0 in Mountain East Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Anderson Field.
After the draw, CU is now 4-2-1 on the season while Urbana's record is 1-3-2.
In the first half, the Mountain Lions were able to get four shots on goal with junior forward
Kari Simon recording two while senior midfielder
Stacey Calder and freshman forward
Kalyn Fauntleroy each had one crack on goal, but Urbana goalkeeper Taylor Gianangeli stopped all four attempts at scoring.
In the second half, junior forward
Chloe Barber and sophomore forward
Emily Cole each registered a shot on goal, but were again turned away by Gianangeli. In the two 10-minute overtime periods, redshirt goalkeeper
Lacie Geisel turned aside three Urbana shots to ensure the game would end in a tie.
With the draw, Geisel recorded her second shutout of the season and the team collected its third shutout of the year.
For the game the Mountain Lions held advantages in total shots (13-12) and shots on goals (7-5) while the teams finished level in corner kicks with five.
The Mountain Lions will travel to Wheeling Jesuit Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. start.
