Concord Falls at Fairmont State

Box Score FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team was swept by Fairmont State (26-24, 25-15, 25-23) in Mountain East Conference play Friday at Colebank Hall.

The loss puts Concord's record at 8-5 and 0-1 in the MEC.

The Mountain Lions jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the first set, which was highlighted by three kills from senior middle hitter Sarah Jones. However, FSU fought back to tie the first set at 18.
The teams remained tied at 22 before Fairmont State won four of the last six points to win the first set.

The second set saw the teams play evenly early in the game. With the set tied at seven, the Fighting Falcons went on a 12-2 run to take command of the set. During the second set, senior outside hitter Brytni Willis registered three kills.

The final set was much closer than the second set as the Mountain Lions fell behind 11-7 before storming back to take a 19-17 lead. But, CU couldn't force a fourth set falling 25-23.

For the match, Jones led the Mountain Lions with 10 kills while Willis was just one off Jones' pace, finishing with nine kills. Jones also posted her fourth double-double of the season by tallying 15 digs.  Senior libero Amanda Walker finished with a game-high 19 digs.

Senior setter Nikki McMillan recorded another double-digit assist game with 12. The Manassas, Virginia native has had at least 10 assists in all but one match this season.

Jones along with freshman middle hitter Alexis Elliott and freshman middle hitter Shea Hoffman tallied four total blocks a piece.

The Mountain Lions will be back in action Saturday at 1:00 p.m against Shepherd.
