Concord Loses Overtime Game vs. Shepherd

Box Score ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Shepherd Wednesday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action.

In what the conference home opener for the Mountain Lions, they played stingy defense only allowing nine total shots by the Rams and just three on goal.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, Concord (0-3-1) and Shepherd (3-1-1) headed to overtime where in the 96th minute, SU was able to break through with a goal from Jeff Kammerer.

In the defeat, junior midfielder Eduardo Filho, junior midfielder Matt Guilliams and freshman midfielder Maximillian Simpson all recorded one shot on goal. Junior goalkeeper Mitchell Thompson turned away two shots and was instrumental in forcing the game into an extra session.

The Rams tallied more total shots (9-7) while the teams finished tied in shots on goal (3-3). CU held the edge in corner kicks (3-2).

Concord will step out of MEC play for the final time Saturday when they travel to Chowan University for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.
