ATHENS, W.Va. – Winners of five of its last eight games, the Concord University softball team begins its final home stand of the season 3:00 p.m. Thursday vs. Wheeling Jesuit before facing West Liberty 1:00 p.m. Friday at the CU Softball Field.

RECORDS AND STANDINGS
• CU enters play this week at 24-16 overall and 8-10 in the Mountain East Conference. The Mountain Lions are eighth in the MEC standings. Most recently, Concord completed a doubleheader sweep of Glenville State April 12 and lost a pair of close games to nationally-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan April 13.
 
• Wheeling Jesuit is one spot behind Concord in ninth place at 6-10 in the MEC. The Cardinals are 13-22 overall.
 
• West Liberty is 8-31 overall and 12th in the MEC standings at 1-17.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
• Concord is 8-21 all-time against Wheeling Jesuit and 3-11 vs. West Liberty.
 
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Freshman outfielder Lauren Lewis, the reigning MEC Hitter of the Week, has slugged out three home runs and three doubles over her last six games. For the season Lewis is hitting .353 (41-for-116) with 27 runs scored, an MEC-leading 14 doubles, five home runs and 23 RBI.
 
• Lewis will carry an eight-game hitting streak into the games against Wheeling Jesuit. Her hitting streak matches sophomore shortstop Kristen Rose's earlier eight-game hitting streak for the longest streak this season.

• In a two-game sweep of Glenville State, Rose recorded four hits in eight at-bats while driving in four runs, including three RBI in game one. The three-RBI performance for Rose was the most since driving in three against Carson-Newman on March 4.
 
• This season Rose has a batting average of .344 (45-for-131) with 40 runs scored, five home runs and 30 RBI. She is also the team leader in stolen bases with 15 and has only been caught stealing twice this season.
 
• Rose has been one of the most dynamic players in the MEC this season, ranking among the league's best in runs (first / 40), at-bats (third / 131), total bases (fourth / 76) and stolen bases (fourth / 15).
 
• Sophomore Allie Reid continues to be one of the best all-around pitchers in the MEC as well. Reid, who is 13-6 on the year, has thrown the second-most innings (125.1) in the conference in addition to ranking second in batters struck out looking (31), third in wins, fifth in appearances (25), sixth in strikeouts (84) and ERA (10th / 2.85).
 
• Junior first baseman Brantlea Wood is 4-for-9 over the last four games. After hitting just one home run in her first two years at Concord, Wood has produced two home runs, one double and three RBI in Concord's last two series. Wood has also raised her batting average 31 points to .313 over the stretch.
 
• Sophomore catcher Alyssa Morris leads CU in on-base percentage (.425) this season thanks in part to her patience at the plate. Morris has drawn a team-high 18 walks and has only struck out six times, tying her with freshman second baseman Alayna Furr. Morris is hitting .311 (33-for-106) with 17 runs scored, six home runs and 22 RBI on the year.
 
• Concord is outscoring its opponents 53-22 in the sixth and seventh innings this season.
 
SCOUTING WHEELING JESUIT
• Angie Reddick leads the MEC in home runs (10) and RBI (43).
 
• Wheeling Jesuit's Ali Smith has compiled a record of 7-11 with a 4.55 ERA in 112.2 innings pitched with 56 strikeouts. 
 
SCOUTING WEST LIBERTY
• The Hilltoppers' Allyson Johnson is hitting .344 with three home runs and 15 RBI this season.
 
• WLU's Paige Creamer is 4-13 with a 5.10 ERA in 101.2 innings tossed. Creamer has struck out 47 batters.
 
THE COACHES
• Concord's Alisa Tasler has a record of 64-76 in just under three seasons in charge of the CU program.
 
• Kelli Williams is in her first season at Wheeling Jesuit. Williams has compiled a record of 13-22.
 
• West Liberty is coached by Jim Bacca. He is 25-62 in two seasons at WLU.
